From the start of our time here there have been a good amount of sage mallow , specs of orange, in the labyrinth field.
The previous owners mowed everything and that field was dry, cracked, and pretty parched.
The years of letting the grass grow long have made it dense with growth, much more mallow plus influx of wild clover, and this year, vetch.
This photo was meant to show the difference where we mow for the trail, where the mallow is just low, not flowering and where let gone wild.
We are seeing the mallow in others parts of the yard, the aspen grove and the fields to the east.
