Huddle Up for 2023

Not to get all resolution-y but the note making needs to be our regular practice.

Cori called my attention to this brown pile outside the front window— it’s a pile of prairie chickens studying warm!

It’s enjoyable to have birds be much more present here than when we did out walkthrough in 2019- previous owners did a lot of shooting, and since we don’t we have seen the increase in not only the chickens with their tell tale tracks..

But also ravens, chickadees, magpies, blackbirds, sparrows, wrens, bluebirds, jays, owls, eagles, hawks, martins, Kildare, cranes, Canada geese, loon, ducks.

Bring on all the birds, this is a haven.

UPDATE: January 3- over morning coffee we watched one in the front poplar tree nibbling on buds. After viewing in the scope and some research we now know these are Ruffed Grouse. More info:
